PREVENT SIGNS UP TO DSM DYNEEMA’S LICENSING PROGRAM FOR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING

Latest partnership-alliance forges DSM Dyneema’s diversification of
business beyond gloves into body protection clothing, expanding superior
range of Cut Level 5 cut-resistant wear with enhanced comfort

URMOND (NL), October 23, 2009 - Prevent, the European based manufacturer of
the Glassbeater range of high-end cut resistant clothing has joined DSM
Dyneema’s Global Licensing Program for protective clothing.

The move marks DSM Dyneema business’ strategy to expand its range of
protective clothing applications beyond arm and hand protection to all-body
wear. Cut resistant clothing is a relatively new development in the
protective apparel industry driven by the need for enhanced
worker-protection and facilitated by the development of new textile
technology that enables lightweight, more breathable clothing that gives
the wearer improved overall protection, but with greater comfort.

Prevent is an established market leader, supplying high quality,
comfortable protective clothing to the glass industry’s leading
manufacturers. Glassbeater’s range of sweaters, polo shirts and T-shirts
made with Dyneema® fiber provide the maximum cut resistance level 5
protection according to the EN388 cut resistance standard and are CE
marked. Glassbeater sweaters made with Dyneema® are extremely comfortable
to wear and feel cooler because of the lightweight and heat conductivity
properties of the Dyneema® fiber.

The partnership between the two companies will focus on product innovation
and marketing of a broader portfolio of protective clothing for arm,
shoulder and body protection, and marks DSM Dyneema’s strategic intent to
expand its high protective textiles business portfolio by partnering with
market leaders in key application fields.

Erik Krak, Managing Director of Prevent comments: “The Dyneema® brand
represents the very best in cut resistance performance while being light
and comfortable for the wearer. Our Glassbeater customers in the glass and
metal cutting industry demand the best in comfort and protection for their
work-place clothing. Teaming up with DSM Dyneema now means our customers
have two brands they can trust in to deliver maximum protection with
optimum comfort in an expanded range of protective clothing.”

“Protective clothing made with Dyneema® encourages more wear, thanks to
greater comfort, protecting workers better and longer, and ultimately saves
time resulting in increased efficiency and reduced cost,” says Henri
Oeseburg, Business Manager DSM Dyneema Cut Resistance. “This partnership
with Prevent will spearhead our move into a broader array of protective
clothing, preventing injuries not just to hands, but to arms, shoulders and
body.”
